Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is NotAGallery?
NotAGallery is an online platform for original art and handmade objects. We bring together work by independent artists and creators and make buying art simple, accessible and affordable.
2. How can I buy an artwork?
Interested in an artwork? Simply send us a message via the contact form and mention the name of the artwork in question. We will then contact you to arrange the next steps.
3. Why can’t I pay online immediately?
Shipping costs can vary significantly for each artwork. Dimensions, weight, packaging and destination all play a role. For that reason, we first confirm the shipping costs with you. Once everything is clear, you will receive a confirmation with the total amount and payment details.
4. How does the payment procedure work?
After you indicate via the contact form that you would like to purchase an artwork, we will contact you to agree on the shipping method and shipping costs. You will then receive an order confirmation with a payment link for iDEAL, PayPal or Google Pay.
All payments are processed through a secure payment environment.
Once payment has been received, we will send you an invoice and the artwork will be carefully packed and shipped.
5. How is an artwork shipped?
All artworks are carefully packed to prevent damage during transport. Smaller works are sent by registered parcel post; larger or more fragile works are shipped via a courier service or specialised art transport.
6. What are the shipping costs?
Shipping costs depend on the size, weight and destination of the artwork. As each work is different, the shipping costs are always agreed with you in advance.
7. Are shipping costs included in the price of the artwork?
No. The price shown with the artwork refers to the artwork itself only. Shipping costs are additional and are the responsibility of the buyer. As size, weight and destination may vary for each artwork, shipping costs are always confirmed with you in advance.
8. Can I also collect my purchase?
Yes, you can. In fact, from both a cost and safety perspective it is often a recommended option. Collection is by appointment only. Naturally, there are no costs involved.
9. What happens if an artwork is damaged during transport?
Artworks are carefully packed to prevent damage during transport. However, if something does happen during shipping, please contact us immediately so that we can work together to find an appropriate solution. In principle, we carry the risk during transport.
10. Can I return an artwork?
Yes. In principle, a 14-day cooling-off period applies. The artwork must be returned undamaged and in its original packaging.
11. Can I view an artwork in person first?
Yes, of course. Feel free to contact us if you would like to view an artwork first. We will then arrange a suitable time for a viewing.
12. How do I know the artwork is authentic?
Many artworks on NotAGallery are signed by the artist. When available, we also include information about provenance, technique and year. This ensures you know exactly what you are buying.
13. Is all art on NotAGallery original?
Yes. Most works are unique, original artworks. Occasionally we also offer graphic works or small editions, such as lithographs or prints. This is always clearly stated with the artwork.
14. Who are the artists on NotAGallery?
NotAGallery works with a mix of emerging artists, independent makers and occasionally works by more established names. Sometimes they are simply interesting finds where the maker is unknown. When that is the case, we clearly state this.
15. What price range do the artworks fall into?
NotAGallery focuses on affordable art. With a few exceptions, most works are priced between €50 and €750, allowing both first-time art buyers and collectors to find something of interest.
16. Is the artwork delivered framed?
This varies per artwork. The description always clearly states whether the work is delivered framed or unframed, or what the additional cost is if you would like the artwork framed.
17. Why is it called NotAGallery?
Because we do not want to be a traditional gallery. No barriers, no complicated art jargon — just good art that you can discover, buy and bring into your home.
