Two small wooden display cases/frames featuring stylised figures, purchased in Benin, West Africa

The figurines are inspired by traditional Akan and Baule stylistic elements: large heads, serene facial expressions and geometric accents. These are not ritual or museum objects, but decorative export pieces from the 20th century, made for the art and souvenir market.

Mounted in a wooden frame with corrugated cardboard as a backing. Fully enclosed with a glass panel. A lovely pair that works well in a distinctive interior.
